Nestled in the rolling drumlins of the Ards Peninsula, The Echlinville Distillery is the first newly licensed whiskey distillery in Northern Ireland in over 125 years.
Echlinville has established itself at the forefront of Ireland’s spirits renaissance and is home to some of the north’s best known quality spirits, including the iconic Dunville’s Irish Whiskey and Jawbox Gin.
Field to glass
A ‘field to glass’ distillery, all Echlinville’s new-make spirit is distilled from barley grown and floor malted on Echlinville land by the shores of Strangford Lough. Our first single malt and pot still whiskey came of age in 2016 and continues to mature in the finest casks, gently encouraged by the Ards Peninsula’s mild microclimate, which provides the perfect conditions for producing spirit with truly distinctive character and flavour.
Award winning spirit
Echlinville is the proud custodian of the historic Dunville’s Irish Whiskey brand. It was one of our founding goals to revive ‘The Spirit of Belfast’ after a near 80-year absence. Dunville’s PX 10 Year Old Single Malt has won three consecutive World Whiskeys Awards and the Irish Whiskey Award for Best Irish Single Malt 12 Years and Under and was recently awarded Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Together with Dunville’s Three Crowns, and with new releases planned including Dunville’s Three Crowns Peated and an exceptional rum finish whiskey, Echlinville is bringing The Spirit of Belfast to a new generation of whiskey enthusiasts.
Our passion for creating the perfect spirit doesn’t stop at whiskey. We are home to Echlinville Irish Single Pot Still Gin– Ireland’s only super-premium single estate gin. With a unique malt barley neutral base spirit, infused with local botanicals including Strangford Lough seaweed and indigenous whin bush petals, Echlinville Gin’s malt character and creamy mouthfeel appeals to whiskey aficionados and gin devotees alike.
Our distillers are also the careful crafters of Jawbox Gin, which is fast becoming one of Ireland’s best known premium gins, and Bán Poitin, a revival of the legendary potato based spirit.
The Echlinville Experience
Echlinville offers a range of visitor experiences, including tours, tastings and special events such as gin evenings and afternoon teas. Our unique ‘stay and distil’ experience offers whiskey enthusiasts the opportunity to distil their own bespoke cask of whiskey while staying in the Echlinville Manor House – it is the ultimate whiskey experience. Plans are in place to further develop the Echlinville visitor experience with a visitors’ centre, museum, restaurant, shop and on-site accommodation.
